Since your rug is hand-crafted, there will be natural, beautiful variations in pattern and color. These are sure signs of an authentic rug made just for you.
- The Beauty of Handmade: Because our rugs are entirely crafted by hand on traditional wooden looms, each piece is a unique work of art. No two rugs will be perfectly identical, which is the true hallmark of authentic Moroccan craftsmanship.
- Organic Tolerances: Final sizes, pile heights, color hues, and overall design can vary by up to 5% to 7% from what is ordered due to the organic nature of hand-spun wool and the tension of the weaving process.
- Color & Texture (Abrash): Natural wool absorbs dye beautifully but uniquely. You may notice subtle color variations across the rug—a characteristic known as abrash—as well as minor shifts in pile thickness. These are not defects, but rather the soulful, organic signatures of a natural product.
- Design Fluidity: Whether it is a geometric grid or abstract tribal symbols, our artisans weave each motif by eye and memory rather than by machine. Expect charming, subtle differences in the scale, shape, or placement of the design compared to reference photos.

Rug Care Instructions
To keep your handmade rug looking fresh and beautiful for years to come:
- Vacuum Regularly: Use the suction-only setting on your vacuum. Avoid rotary brushes or beater bars to protect the wool fibers.
- Expect Some Shedding: New wool rugs will naturally shed for the first few weeks. Gentle vacuuming will resolve this.
- Spot Clean Immediately: Blot (do not rub) spills immediately with a dry, clean cloth. For small stains, use cold water and a mild, wool-safe detergent.
- Rotate: Rotate your rug every few months to ensure even wear and sun exposure.
- Professional Care: For a deep clean, we recommend taking your rug to a professional cleaner specializing in handmade wool pieces every 1–3 years.
